Shantha Katipearachchi

Shantha Katipearachchi is the Chief Operating Officer of Hummingbird international. He has 20 years of industry experience, mainly in Sales & Marketing with over a decade of managerial experience in sales management, marketing, new business / market development, strategy development & implementation.  He is a Chartered Marketer and holds an MBA from the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), University of Sri Jayewardenepura. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing UK and has a Diploma in Marketing (Dip M UK, MCIM).

Shantha started his career in the corporate sector (FMCG) in the field of sales and marketing at Shaw Wallace & Hedges Limited in 1990. After five years stint, he moved in to the financial services sector and worked at LOLC in the sales & marketing division. In 1998, he shifted to the insurance industry.  At Union Assurance PLC, he contributed to the development of Life / General insurance business portfolios as the Sales Manager/Team Manager/ Regional Manager and finally as the Head of the Strategic Business Unit. Presently he serves as the Chairman on the Board of the CIM Sri Lanka Region and is an active member of the Institute in promoting Marketing as a discipline in the business community.
